It is possible to request a change to your listing. The editor can decide whether to put your change in or not though.

I found a better catergory listing for my site http://www.shepro.org I found the main catergory editor as mine did not have one, and asked to be moved... I of course asked other quesions, to which I had a nice reply and was informed that I should be listed quicker by the new editor as editors tend to sort the requests from other editors sooner than those from the public.

Well here's hoping

I resubmitted my website after about a month, The content on the site, page title and description had changed quite a bit from my first listing. When I resubmitted I kept it under the same category "Science: Chats and Forums" do you think I'll get frowned upon for doing so?

The category I posted to has no editor, the category below it has about 5 or 6 editors. I noticed some far inferior sites along the same line have been listed in my category, the category only has 10 listings at present.

Any advice would be appreciated.

If it's the same URL, it will just overwrite the one you submitted before. What you did is fine. Now all you can do is wait. Someone will get to it eventually.

Hi All,

I submitted my site in May this year and it still hasn't been reviewed. I have been patient and friendly in my posts as I'm sure the editors get fed up of asking for status requests.

I got a reply the other day saying "Usually we can't predict when a site will be reviewed; I would expect this one to be unusually unpredictable."

When I asked why it would be unusually unpredictable I was told that they thought my site was a directory and that they rarely approve a directory as they aren't as good as ODP. Which is fair enough but I've tried to explain that my site is not a directory and that it is for people to read and submit real holiday reviews and opinions.

You can see the conversation at:
http://resource-zone.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17919

I've now been told to check back after xmas. I'm hoping that it will get sorted out soon.
Has anyone else been waiting for the same amount of time as me or do you think I got put to the back of the queue when the editor thought my site was a directory?

Thanks for your help.

That's kind of funny, one of my sites http://www.35mmonline.com was in fact nothing but a directory when I submitted it. They reviewed it and had it listed in less then a month. I've since added a forum to the site to make it a little more.

I'm not at all complaining that it was listed so fast, I've had no luck at all since then. I did however just get approved for a man directory listing on Yahoo, I never thought that would happen but it did.

I know and it's not even a directory.

There are other sites that are already in DMOZ that do the same thing as me so I'm confused.

I've also submitted to Yahoo directory but not heard anything, how long did it take you to get approved and is there anywhere you can check on the status?

Thanks

Yahoo took about 3 months, I received an email from them stating it was to be listed in a couple of days. Couple days went by and sure enough, it was listed.

DMOZ I don't understand at all, the category I submitted The Science Forum to now even has an editor, other sites with far inferior content and design are listed, but I can't get my site listed for the life of me. Do I have to send them a nice bottle of wine or something :)

I would ask on their forum for a status update, I just found out my site was rejected. Why it was rejected I have no clue, it's far better then many of the other sites listed on the category. I'm just very happy Yahoo was smart enough to pick it up.

Thescienceforum isn't that beefy of a site. One person is responsible for a huge % of the posts, and the number of threads/posts isn't all that high. Embryonic forums just don't get listed often.

Good point, then again it's hard to grow without getting listed :)

Once again I'm just happy Yahoo didn't see it that way.

I got listed in dmoz in a relatively short amount of time and I'm still not entirely sure why. All I did was make sure that I had tons of fresh, relavent content on my site all the time, not just for their purposes when they scanned the site. I also added as many relavent link exchanges as I could and I somehow managed to get in.

Also, I did go to their webforums just after submitting my site and my very first post was prolly the stupidest one they ever saw. It was edited, I was told to pull my head out of my butt (essentially) but I still got in.
