Which categories are best

Gimpsy is an Internet directory that categorizes sites in a new and unique way. Unlike other Internet directories, which categorize sites according to their subject, Gimpsy is concerned first and foremost with the service that a site provides.

Yeah, I'm clueless. I posted that note then noticed that at the top level there's an entire forum about Gimpsy. Mea culpa!

i generally try to find a category that is relevant, and doesn't have too many other sites already in it.

Hi Clare,

The directory goes in Find > directory > business & finance

and the other one might work in Find > resources > webmaster but it also may not be suitable. Gimpsy doesn't accept sites that only contain information. I didn't spend a lot of time on it and maybe the other editors will find something I missed but that would be the category of my choice.

Hi,

Whats the difference with the directory - isn't that information only to? Or is it the fact that it is interactive?

Hi Clare,

Yes, you are right. Directories and search engines are interactive in that you can search on them. Your other site does not appear to have anything interactive (that I could find).

For example, if there was a newsletter that we could subscribe to, then it would fit in the subscribe category, or if there was a forum where we could chat, it would go in the Chat category. This is why our home page is full of verbs (actions) and is what the Gimpsy Editors look for when we review suggestions for inclusion to the directory.
