Free anti virus software

Postby SamWillC on Mon Nov 15, 2004 4:43 am

Has anyone heard of/tried http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php?

I need an anti virus but I'm too poor! I've been trying my luck for 2 months without one but it's too dodgy.

You're welcome. Just remember to right click on your little umbrella icon on the taskbar and do the Internet update thing every day.

I reccomend Linux.

There are several different versions to choose from and most of them are free.

It stops 100% of viruses and doesnt need updated definitions.

I am not a Linux user!

What I`ve heard is that Linux comes in different packages. My question is: What is the best package?

If you go to the statistics you see that Linux has almost the same problem as Windows. How many Win users are there in the world compared to Linux ? Linux and Windows are like cats and dogs. They fight. Many Linux users makes viruses just to fuxx up my computer. If you ask me both Windows and Linux = Junk!!

Yes, AVG is a good anti-virus program used by many.

I'm not a *nix type of guy, but one package that I am impressed with
is called Linspire. It's built on the Debian version of Linux, but has the
look and feel of Windows. www.linspire.com

It's not free though.

If you want a linux with ease of use/configuring Mandrake and Fedora are 2 good free choices. I've installed my version of Slackware more than a year ago, and the only reason for me to upgrade from Slack 9 to 10 is that it will work even better (not that the current one doesn't work well). No viruses, no hacks, nu bluescreens... I think i've said it before... I'm thinking of rebooting from time to time for a more "Winblows-like" feeling

I wont even bother of getting into an "who makes viruses" argument. But at least who builds an Linux virus (AKA exploit) really knows what he's doing. While everybody can build a win virus. why? because it's possible

Also install FireFox, it's much less exploitable than IE is.

and don't download shit from the internet and install them, unless you trust the source. Common sense with 100% connectivity these days.
